| Hey All, I mentioned about going up to Al-Ain to get some touring car action on the go, but there is no reason why we cannot start a class to run every week...well no major reason anyway. Problems that I see are: - The Movenpick area is too small. It's fine for mini's but not good enough for touring.
Class structure Discipline Enough People
The first problem is easy to solve, we move to the other area near to where we usually are, get some more plates and we have an 'extended' track. In other words, we build the normal mini track and then add an extension for the tourers. From a class perspective, I dont see what is wrong with ANY on-road 4WD chassis, or even 2WD if you are brave enough. The only rule being: STD SILVERCAN ONLY. Any batteries may be used as long as they are not rated higher than 7.4V Discipline is always going to be required where 'gentlemens' rules apply. Drifters typically do not get damaged because of the nature of the sport. Mini's are fairly indestructable and are relatively sloow. Tourers, even with a silvercan can reach good speeds, and therefore, get broken/smashed...and we know that this is where people get ANGRY :-) Enough people....we are growing, it is a good time to try this out. I hope to order the lap timing system by the end of next week....THEN you will see how many people get interested....the software stores driver names, laptimes, track names and lengths so we could have a championship season and the results are created automatically....all good fun. Anyway, this week I will be at the normal spot, racing mini's...lets chat and see how many people are keen.

| Good idea sir andy, i think you need a bigger space for 4wd race. im excited how it will turn out. but for us here we are using TT01 chassi special class one thing we all have the same maximum gearing of 25/55 we use also silver can and the batteries 7.4 max. this is the short track that we are using when in narrow space https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAz8s9zjJBUthis is the extended one / slippery track https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cvYLLbO9xxE | |

| @ Jdrift, x-ray is allowed, as long as it has a silver can :-)
@Martin, will pm you in a mo
@J, I have prepared the TB-02 for action, but I will try to get a belt drive car to use sometime.
I will get down to area 1 tomorrow around 3:30pm to see what options there are to map out a circuit.

| dammit, i have my TRF still setup for touring but pulling my motor out and putting in silvercan is too much trouble. if the touring class is go then i plan to swap out the motor in my TRF and use that for touring, and for drifting i'll use my ehhm ehhm project :suspect: | |

yes bandit, i still have the silver can with me. @ ahmed, TRF is made for FAST touring, using it with silver can will not give its full potential |

@ ahmed, TRF is made for FAST touring, using it with silver can will not give its full potential try to count the holes on the side...standard are two holes...check yours

wont my TRF be good because it is soo light? i just think it's over rated if you try and put a silver can in it.. it would actually go faster because it's a lighter chassis.. @papi, woooohooooo! alright!

| ive used my TRF on a silver can class, i set my FDR to 5 and quite good enough i have enough speed on a stretch and enough torque inside the track...depends really on the motor how you break in...main factor i think and driving skills... | |

| I was horrified at how SLOOOOOOOOW my tourer was yesterday, it was painful. Nice take-off, but the straights were just awful. I was racing agains Jay in his mini and was only just able to keep up, but the mini has a tighter turning circle and with the FWD, it can be gunned out of a corner.
I believe that adjusting the FDR is the only solution without upgrading the motor. We will need to find a happy medium for us to be competitive. My TB-02 was running 19T pinion on 61T spur. I am not sure of the internal ratio so cannot work out the FDR but will check when I get home and see what spurs I have that could inject some more speed into this crate. Hopefully I have some smaller spurs and options to adjust the 19T onto, or just see if I can get the 20T on there. I want to try and keep the 19 or 20T on there because I have hardened steel pinions. I wonder if TT-01 has some high speed spurs that will fit? Alternatively, Sport Tuned Tamiya motors or 13T Hobbywing motors....that would get things moving...
On a postive side, the Area 1 has lots of wiiiiiiide ooooopppennn space, so is perfect for a tourer track. We should plan to get a session going there.

| hi there andy, i have no idea about the TB02 but base on what ive heard i think TT01 and the TB02 have the same IDR and that is 2.60 the stock gearing of TB02 is like TT01 19/61 with 48 pitch you can select spur gear whick are 61 stock and 55/58 same as the TT01...so you need to replace your gearings to the maximum one same as TT01 25/55 which is 5.72 FDR i hope this one will help you...if you need to have much faster TT01 i can PM you about the secret hahahaha... try to check this link http://www.tamiyausa.com/articles/feature.php?article-id=8 | |
