nice find andy... you think its feasible in area 2 specially the 50 x 80 size track?

the small track is enough for the drift track but it cost almost 650USD + shipping

reck and I had been eyeing on those for automodex before.. but it looks like its not heavy enough to be stable, they use double adhesive to stick it on to the surface which im sure on the dusty track we have at area2 it will not hold and wear off easily.

plus its so expensive lol would be perfect for drifting though

if we have a permanent track i think this will be cheaper than making a permanent track made of cement. the good thing with this is we can easily change the lay out

I certainly looks good, surely there must be a way of securing this to tarmac?

Dan..I think the problem here isn't the securing bit. It's the price tag. Securing it in isn't that hard. Weigh it down, duct tape, etc.

It's really expensive.

The small one would be AWESOME for drifting!

The best part is you can change the track design...Which is a lot harder when you have cement, wood, rope, etc...

there's is instead of using a nut & bolt on connecting each part we can screw it in the ground

Adbull do you think you could build a medium sized tarmac track for less than AED 5,000?

If you take my old club in the UK for an example, we used to use fireman's hose filled with sand. I was there when we purchased this from the start and this came to around the same price.

Id also think that the thick rope that some clubs use is fairly expensive too, and would be less effective.

So from a club point of view, if this is a decent bit of kit it seems reasonable

Not saying that the price isn't reasonable, or anything along those lines. Just wondering whether if we can (if we decide to get something from them) gather the funds...

Fireman's hose filled with sand is awesome.
Thick rope is good too. But curves become permanent, which is EXTREMELY annoying.

The funds are the only problems if we decide to use this. If we ever need a permanent track, fireman's hose, pipe, wood, etc. Would be more affordable options.

i think it would be more of a question of durability and longevity, if the the system provides the flexability and functionality we require it is worth considering.....

saying that something like this would be a long term investment.... I wouldnt even bother with this for area 2 but rather make it a consideration when operation bloodhound succeeds!

i think the benefits of having a system like this is great....it can be packed away when not in use (prevents vandalism and weathering due expose to the elements) and be changed to suit a specific competion, event or just for the sake of change....quickly and easily!

this thing is really a good materials for a track rather than a cement made because we can easily change layout with our breaking the ground

all we need is 20 members/contributors x 250AED donations and we're good to go

This was the exact same system used in the creek park track before they build the wooden box barriers/curbs.
Great on the cars as less damage. max u would just drive over it. But as someone already mentioned the double sided tape doent last that long. So after some time anytine someone hits the track the entire thing would move.

However if we were to nail it then it would be good.

Lets try & secure a secure location first. ...i feel.

Thick on the other hand seems to be the best & cheapest option.

Definately more 'car-friendly' than any other solution I have seen. Ropes, bricks, concrete and even wooden poles are going to smash cars to bits.

If the location is more permanent than Area 2 then we could look at fixing it down for a period of time.....the summer months it would have to come up though, the sun would eat this in a hurry.

Anyway, it is there for our consideration....and as mentione before, 50 people paying AED50 per month for membership.....we would be able to buy 5 of these every year....so imagine we got ONE per year, we could spend the rest on all sorts of lovely things.

This is actually a great track barrier... Soon .... before saving the shell i think i need too save some cash first TFS guys...this will be in near future..

i do not like roadrail track barriers - they do not 'contain' a out of control car

crashing car will easily jump over barrier & into oncoming racetraffic next lane

also when hitting dots or ramps, the cars can get airborne easily - very bad for
any marshalls who are squatting down, they'll get hit in body or face by flying car



yea i know its purpose built equipment, but the price they ask is too much

other clubs have done similar using 4" PVC pipes sliced into 1/2s;
for corner dots we buy "Plough Discs" from agricultural supplier
