Ahmed Al Ameri confirmed his status as the man to beat in Drift UAE as he claimed victory in round five at Yas Marina Circuit on Friday.
The Emirati drifter, who also took the honours in round four and walked away with the Red Bull Car Park Drift title on the Corniche last month, stormed to victory in the modified class, in his Lexus SC300.
Behind the Emirates Drift Team driver was Kuwaiti Muhth Al Essa in a BMW M3, while Yousef Juma was third in a Nissan Silvia.
Having secured the win, Al Ameri turned his attention to encouraging the next generation of drifters in the emirates as he gave
Eathan Gadiongco, the winner of the night’s remote controlled drift competition, a lap of the track.
As part of the night’s events,
Extreme Hobbies held the sixth round of the DubDrift Extreme RC Drift Championship with the prize for stage winner Gadiongco a lap of the drifting course inside Al Ameri’s Lexus.
The youngster held off a challenge from
Jay Manuel and Donis M. Baul to claim victory.
Mohammad Alfalasi, general manager of Motorsport Solutions, organisers of the Drift UAE series, said: “We had a passenger ride, where the winner of the RC Drift was actually able to practise with one of the pro drifters.”
In the street class, Ahmed Al Rumaithy of Pirates of Drift skidded his Chevrolet Camaro to victory, while Saudi Arabian drifter Abdulaziz Alyeech finished the night second in a BMW 640i ahead of Mattar Al Hammi, who was third in his Nissan.
“It was a good event,” Alfalasi added.
“The turn-out was not so bad, we had only 12 cars but we had a good level of competition, and a good crowd of around 200.”
