Hi,
If you have every had tyres that just wouldnt stick to your rims, or if you have ever tried sticking tyres to aluminium rims and failed, you might be interested in 'rubberised CA'. Basically its a rubberised version of superglue. Its designed to give a little impact resistance to a joint, it also works well between two surfaces where one of them is more rigid than the other (ie. rim and tyre).

You can get a version of it in Ace hardware, its marketted by Gorilla and sold in blister packs of two small tubes. I have used it to cut down a set of crawler tyres, I stuck the first tyre with standard super glue and all the others with rubberised super glue. The first one is really brittle, but the others a definitley more supple, I guess that this will make the joins last longer as the dont get tiny fractures everytime they flex.

As a real test I have used the rubberised CA to stick my cut down crawler tyres to some TOPCAD aluminium wheels. With every other product out there, this is s definite fail, however I am quietly confident that this glue sticks as well agressivley as standard superglue, but the built in flex will be enough to maintain the joint between the crawler tyre and the alu rim.

I will let you know, but in the short term this looks like being a better alternative than standard supper glue for sticking any tyre to any rim.

I know that some RC Companies have been marketting rubberised CA as 'special' tyre glue, but this stuff is available in the UAE now and probably cheaper so give it a go.

Duane.

i actually might find that usefull especially with my Nitro offroad and Gasoline offroad projects, my Baja 5T motor @ 11HP is just so torquey that the beadlocks wont hold the rim or foam in place anymore, will definetly give it a try...... thumbs_up

Thanks Duane
