| I have a MRC Super Brain 959 Charger which i bought about 4 + years ago. It can charger NiCAD & Nimah. AC/DC. the DC wire has been cut when i accidently plugged it into a low power travel transformer to convert 220 -110v. I do have a AC/DC converter now. Plus i have two brand new Tamiya 3600 Nimah Battery (Paid Dhs 270 each from Toys & Us) i bought these also like 2+ years ago. Never used them as i was into nitro. Also have two nos. 3000 Nimah battery which i have probably charged 5-8 times only. Collectively i have spent approx Dhs 1200/- on the above items. I know that Lipo is the new craze & it have many advantage over the Nimah. But dont feel like discarding all the almost new equipment. Since the packs have been lying around for 2 years or so. I believe they need to be cycled back to life. I'am no electronic guru by any means (hence i prefered nitro) I'am bad a reading instructions with charge rate etc as well. Can someone with good battery/charging knowledge. Help me with the cycling of these battrey packs & show me how to charge them using my MRC charger. I plugged in my 3000 Nimah packs it shows 8.2v or so & that it gives a charged beep within the 10 minutes of plugging in. But when i try & run the car there is no show. Help.............!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

| Sam,
I an not sure why those batteries are doing that, and discharge cycles can bring it back to like.....but I am starting to suspect there is something wrong with the CAR!! I am pretty sure my charger is working, and I tried it on a NiCd that I have lying around....it charged, and ran...
You tried 3 batteries in that car, and it failed with all of them, maybe we need to check that out first....

| Most rechargeable batteries expire after 2-3 years from production date. Whether you use it or not.
Charge cycles: NiMH - 1000 LiOn - 1200 LiPo - 500~1000

| I believe that NiMh batteries lose up to 2% of their charge - DAILY. Based on this assumption, a battery should be DEAD after a few months of storage....practically this is not true, but they are definately in need of some cycling. Your TAMIYA batteries are manufactured using some of the best cells available and I am inclined to believe that they can be salvaged. But something registering over 8V means it is charged and should discharge correctly....have you tried other batteries in your car....mybe the speed controller is cooked or something?? | |

| Probably a stupid question. But i will ask anyways. Since my charger is DC. Does the amp or capacity of the power supply contribute to the fact that the charger dosent get enough juice to charge the battery properly? | |

| as for my triton2 charger.. to achieve the absolute maximum output power, the input power source must be capable of delivering at least 10 amps of current while maintaining 12 volts DC. if power supply is below the required amp, i beleive the charger wont be running at all. make sure you have everything right to ensure adequate power is present. FYI guys i still have my 1st tamiya 1400 nicad battery pack bougth with my 1st tt01 kit back in 2003.. and its still alive and kicking | |

| refuel and drive is the easy and fun part in running a nitro.. the hard part is the maintenance lol
btw not all chargers needs 10amps to ensure adequate power.. some only need 5amps i think.. so if you still have your manual please refer to it.
