| Man, thats cheap for a crawler. They have some cool ideas with the remote locking diffs and stuff, but they have very mixed reviews.....tempting, since I still have not decided on the Losi, Junfac or the Diablo yet.... Sheeesh.... | |

Well, I might. Depends on wether JJ let me use this website... @ all, How does this compare to the Axial AX10? The Axial AX10 is RTR @ $200'ish. Looks pretty good, besides I've got the 3rd Channel taken care of now AdBull.

| BTW how much would a decent crawler motor cost (brushed)...? A regular ESC will do like a stock Tamiya..which comes with the TT01 kit..? | |

| A decent crawler motor wil cost you about US$25 shipped. I have used the Integy 55T lathe motor in a scale crawler before. Very high torque, but dependent on the gearing, it might be a little slow. You could go for a 35T as well that would do the job ok. Tamiya make a 35T CR motor. The TEU-101 would work, but not well. First reason is that it has no brake/hold function and that is needed in a crawler. It also has a 'pause' reverse function, not so nice in a crawler.
Hobbywing do a crawler combo in BL it is a 35T which is equivalent to about a 45T brushed, I think I got the combo for US$80 shipped. It works well, but also has limited wheelspeed...it is only a 1700Kv motor, but with a 3S lipo it becomes a little quicker....
Plus side of any crawler is that batteries last forever.....except if you have worm axles, which are VERY inefficient....and need 1:1 gearing in the tranny mostly....as the reduction is done in the worms....advantage of worms is you dont need an ESC with a brake/hold function.

A regular ESC will do like a stock Tamiya..which comes with the TT01 kit..? The RTR Axial AX10 costs $200'ish. I don't know how many T's a TEU-101BK (stock tamiya ESC) can handle. But I'm sure it doesn't like 35T (35T is ideal). And TEU-101BK Electronic Speed Controllers don't really like the low frequency that you need when rock crawling. Anyway, the Axial AX10 is the perfect crawler when you're new to the hobby. It's handling isn't garbage (unlike the other RTR crawlers), and in general, it's pretty good. Hope this helped =) AdBull.

| TEU 101BK will easily handle ANYTHING over 27T, go below 27T and you will fry it. Low-frequency has nothing to do with it. The only reason people DONT use them is because of the lack of a BEC, the lack of brake/hold for crawling.
In a stock environment, they are ok, in anything modified....they suck - HUGE.
The Axial ARTR has always been the best bet. There are 3 versions. Kit, ARTR & RTR. The kit and the RTR have the entry level part, the ARTR have all the hop ups.
Out of the box, they have always been the pick of the bunch. Lots of aftermarket spares and add-ons. For comp duty, they need some basic hopups. The Losi is probaly the pic of the bunch now with regards to ability out of the box, but motor selection and maintenance of the worms as well as (reputed) bum service, have made it a bit of a problem child. I dont know enough about the Venom to comment. It looks a bit plasticky, and some normal mods are required. The dig looks nice, but with servo's operating digs (plasticky) and the lockable diff, it could get a bit top heavy.....permanent locked diffs would be a better idea...
But for US$100 and less...it could be made to perform..
I am still in two minds....but I think I will narrow it down to the Junfac, then the Diablo from RC4WD and may have to entertain the Venom now......

| Oh, thanks. I don't know much about the Diablo, the Junfac, meh, it's alirhgt in my opinion. I love the RC4WD, saw some vids of it last week, it's brilliant.
I'm not TOO interested in crawlers, I'll stick to drifitng for now, but when/if I do get a crawler, I'll pro'lly get an AX10. Probably the ARTR version Cheers! AdBull.

| mmmm, out of stock, and no shipments outside of the US.....or at least no int'l credit cards...and no Paypal. I think that might be a little bit of a ghost....for us anyway. | |

| Richards clearly been on the drink over xmas.... lol I saw amain had it, but theirs is not US$99.... boo hoo.... If I coulda got the US$99 deal, I may have been tempted to hit the 'add to cart' option....now I am not so keen. The other thing is that gearbox....have a look at the instruction manual on the Venom site....there are about 12 gears in there!! soooo much to fail, and if it does fail,.....parts? The thing with the RC4WD stuf is that it is bombproof. The punisher shafts - break them and you need to find a new hobby. With the CR-01 conversion, the axles parts are everywhere....and the other stuff looks tuff enough.....I hate these decisions.... | |

LOL. I'm definitely going to get an Axial AX10 if I went down the crawler road. The ARTR version ofcourse. It's got a decent bit of spares available, and it's NOT fragile, maybe not bombproof (lol again), but pretty darn right strong. AdBull.
