SCALE COMP RULES Empty
PostSubject: SCALE COMP RULES   SCALE COMP RULES EmptySat Nov 20, 2010 2:10 pm

this is taken of RCCrawler.com ..... just to give the boys interested in scaling how to set up their scalers in lieu for a comp in the near future ....

FYI

Street Class

• Description - An off-road vehicle that you would " DRIVE " on the street or to the trail head
• 115mm / 4.5" max tire size with a max rim size of 2.2"
• No wheelbase limit- wheelbase must 'fit' vehicle concept/body.
• 12 Minimum Scale Points Required to compete.
• No max track width. Gates will be a minimum of 11" wide so mind your track width, measure from inside cone to inside cone.
• You may modify any tire that is not on the banned list as long as it fits the CLASS that you intend to run it in. You may NOT combine two different style of tires to make one.
• You must run a complete body, including bumpers, fenders, doors & tailgates. Some fender trimming is allowed but the basic shape must be retained, Fenders may be cut, or flat fendered, but it must resemble a 1:1 rig you'd see on the street. If you remove the tailgate, you must have a complete floor and drop bed. If you want to remove your doors, you must run a full interior. "Iffy" Vehicles must be approved by the Scale Nationals Committee members.
• A shortened or lengthened body is allowable. A tubed bed must have a Functional bed area capable of carrying a full-size spare laid flat (rear fender and tailgate rules do not apply to tubed beds).
• No 4 wheel steer or rear steer at all ! If you have more than 2 axles, the FRONT axles are the ONLY ones that can steer.
• No MOA axles of any kind.
• No " DIG " of any kind is allowed.
• Single engine rigs only.
• Wheelbase is limited only by your body, and must fit in your fender wells.
• Vehicle must have a frame-railed chassis. Tubed frame rails are ok.
• Vehicle battery must be mounted on the chassis. You CANNOT mount the battery ON the steering servo/axle/upper links. The goal is to place the battery where it is not visible for a more scale appearance.
• You may add weight to your wheels, but you are only allowed a maximum of 12 TOTAL oz's. You can put it in whichever wheels you want, but 12 oz is the total. Weight can only be added internally, no external wheel weight is allowed.
• You may only run 1 truck in each class, you Cannot run the same truck in both classes, each driver is allowed one entry. You may NOT share rigs with other drivers.
If you feel your rig is borderline, be prepared to modify it if it does not pass tech inspection. AND/ OR bring a BACKUP rig just in case.

Trail Class

• Description - An off-road vehicle that you would " TRAILER " to the trail head
• 140mm / 5.5" max tire size with a max rim size of 2.2"
• No wheelbase maximum- wheelbase must 'fit' truck concept/body.
• 15 Minimum Scale Points Required to compete.
• No max track width. Gates will be a minimum of 12" wide so mind your track width, measure from inside cone to inside cone.
• You may modify any tire that is NOT on the banned list as long as it fits the CLASS that you intend to run it in. You may NOT combine two different style of tires to make one.

• Not all 140mm / 5.5" tires will be allowed. Please see ban list below;

" TUBERS " If you plan to run a tuber in EITHER class, here is what you need to know. It must have a full interior, 2 front seats SIDE BY SIDE, a dash, a steering wheel, a hood panel, a roof panel and a left and right side panel. If it is a jeep, it needs to resemble a jeep. The minimum size for the tubers is as follows:

Height 5 " , measured from bottom of skid pan to the roof top
Width 5 " , measured from the middle of the door bars, side to side
length, your chassis needs to be ATLEAST as long as your wheelbase, measured with the front tires pointed straight and the vehicle at rest.

NOTE: this does not apply if you have a truggy or back halfed truck with a conventional frame and cab.

BOTH CLASSES, NO COMP OR TVP CHASSIS, NO FRAME EXTENSIONS TO MAKE IT SCALE EITHER, PERIOD. THIS IS A SCALE EVENT GUYS. Example of these chassis are: SWX, J2-TT, GC-2, edge, eclipse, hustler, etc....

SCALE COMP RULES Empty
PostSubject: Re: SCALE COMP RULES   SCALE COMP RULES EmptySat Nov 20, 2010 5:03 pm

I saw 'must be a frame rail chassis', that means no cc01/xc chassis. Obviously this rule would have to change for Dubai even if its just a single exception for cc01's.

One thing im confused about, my RC4WD Gelande, since its set up as a trail rig, but looks scale just because of the Land Rover Body, does that mean its still a street rig?

SCALE COMP RULES Empty
PostSubject: Re: SCALE COMP RULES   SCALE COMP RULES EmptySun Nov 21, 2010 2:14 pm

Strawb,

just a suggestion here

probably no need for all these rules as you guys are just starting scaling.

just keep it simple to start with maybe just some basic tyre and chassis regulations.

then once it gets going you can add the various rules/classes as you see fit very happy

like i said just a suggestion laughing

PostSubject: Re: SCALE COMP RULES   SCALE COMP RULES EmptySun Nov 21, 2010 4:23 pm

strawb,

yeah figured as much! anyway its good to have as a reference and its worth a read to understand the complexity of scaling!

but in the mean time i think richards idea of "let's have fun playing around with the rigs first" makes the most sense 2thumbsup

you got any plans for a scale rig strawb?
