| Seth (Wyoming) on Tamiyaclub has done some spectacular builds. Here is on HereDuane, the 1.55 tires look very good on the CC01 chassis. His Sand Scorcher won him a few comps, see Here | |

| My TT-01 was turned into a scaler after I got bored with rallying. For the body, I bought a toy H3 from Dragon Mart. ... So much fun watching it flip over and jump! Edit: doesn't the 1/10 lunch box have an XC chassis? And 1/10 lunch boxes are for a little under $100 | |

| Hi, I have just been having a look through Scale4x4, those guys are nuts. Scratch built engines made from styrene and tube chassis made entirley from 1:1 brake line. This guys is nuts - http://www.scale4x4rc.org/forums/showthread.php?t=44209 I feel a bit silly calling my CC01 and CR01 scalers after seeing this lot. Do you think you can buy brake line in Dubai ? and what about brazing where would you get the gas ? can you use those off the shelf cans ? do you need brazing rods ? Duane. | |

| Hey duane
Been doing some research, brazing definitely seems the way forward but supplies aren't easy to get hold of here....surprise surprise....
I have found quite a few threads talking about soldering normal brass tubing with Stay-Brite silver bearing solder and this supposed be the next closest thing to brazing.....the key here is the Stay-Brite silver bearing solder.....and I'm not sure if you can get it here....they have it on tower hobbies site but it can't be air freighted.......
The whole solder brass thing seems a lot simpler and less dangerous....and something that you could get away with doing in the house unlike brazing......

Nope not in Cairo! Will be there after eid for a few days....
With the brass soldering you can use a normal soldering iron, or a butane torch! So no need for specialised gas!
Will see if I can source the solder here it seems all it is, is a 6% silver to 94% tin mix.....so high silver content solder.....
Also need to see who has brass or copper tubing in some small diameters....worst case can order online tower hobbies has a massive selection

| I Threw out a water cooler with miles of scale size copper tubing in the back. I was laothe to throw it out at the time, I knew it was good for something but as I started setting into it with my saw I began to wonder what was flowing around the pipes and whether me and the kids would be better off not finding out.

| Yip better you didn't hack into that coil! You never know what could happen Speedex actually has loads of copper coil for coolers, fridges etc.....only problem is getting all nice and straight after it's been coiled.... | |

| I was contemplating buying one of these: RC4WD Gelande Defender 90I wanted to try out the scalers and how they handle some semi-tough terrain, obviosuly you wont be able to do what the competition crawlers do but you can still have good fun with them. just wondering though, if its worth it or not....... | |

I don't think there is anything special about this product. It is just a lead free silver solder, usually 96% tin 4% silver. Try Popular Electronics in Diera. It's on the same street as Hobby Zone. 25°15'49.06"N 55°19'47.67"E Or buy the novak silver solder at Tower, it's 3% silver, but does not come with the bottle of flux, so air freight is OK. Most solder has flux inside the solder, but it can be useful to have flux bottle to paint it on. Also PE will have good soldering irons, you need to get the brass very hot to get good join, since brass will conduct the heat fairly well, you will end up having to heat almost the whole brass section, so a higher wattage solder iron would be useful if not essential. I got my soldering iron from here, it is adjustable and I have not had to use it on full power yet.

| Yeah those are sweet, best to order them online, as they a hellishly overpriced here..... Also check out the ones by Nikko, they have some sweet ones too and the details and quality seem better! Saw a nice nikko hummer hx for 1.55 or 1.9 build at hamleys in Dubai mall Check this hx build http://www.scale4x4rc.org/forums/showthread.php?t=29135

| You can get a Rastar from Dragon Mart. ML or LR3, it's expensive though, around AED 250 I think. But VERY detailed and with opening and closing doors, complete interior, etc. | |

| Guys have a look at this thread, this is seriously taking scaling to the next level with a fully scale hand made aluminium body, the detail is ridiculous! its all made from thin aluminium sheets as found in aluminium baking trays and formed and pressed in custom moulds! the build isnt complete yet and has been running for just over 2 years to date...... you can follow the progress here http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showthread.php?t=147988here are some pics | |
