Drift Setup FAQ... Empty
PostSubject: Drift Setup FAQ...   Drift Setup FAQ... EmptyThu Sep 16, 2010 1:34 am

Enlighthen me guys... I'm confused now... wacko

Which do you prefer for Drifting...?

For Front ?

* Kick-up or Anti-Dive ?
* In degrees ?
* Springs -- Color or Type of Spring used ?

For Rear ?

* Anti-Squat or Pro-Squat ?
* In degrees ?
* Springs -- Color or Type of Spring used ?

The format guys will be this...

Example..

Front
** Kick-up - 4 deg..
** Spring - Red or Soft Springs
Rear
** Ant-Squat - 2 deg..
** Spring -- Yellow or Hard Springs

Conclusion -- why you prefer this setup..?
Off-throttle forward weight transfer increases and during braking and off-throttle front suspension compresses more..

That's it guys...

All the inputs you share will be my guide for my ultimate driiift setup... laughing

wish me luck guys to find which setup fit my driving style... wink

Thanks...
Jarwin

drift set up depends mostly on the drivers preference.

not sure with the kick up or anti dive but i use hard (blue) springs on the front and super hard springs on the rear. super hard as my sway bar is designed for off-road... i think. it serves as a spring too which makes the rear hard and easy to slide. as for the toe in/out, i think 2 deg of toe out is used and camber is 4 deg negative.

Drift Setup FAQ... Empty
PostSubject: Re: Drift Setup FAQ...   Drift Setup FAQ... EmptyMon Sep 20, 2010 9:45 am

Before, I used to follow the set-up as per the manual. But I found it easier for me to have an "all-out-zero" setting. AOZ.. Hmmmnnnn.. Sounds cool. I should get this patented..

Rear toe-in gives you stability in straight lines. But we are drifting so we want to minimize the stability in straight lines and make it easier to tip the rear end.

Camber settings - for me, this only applies in touring cars. Drift tires are hard. They don't "flex" when you turn. If you have a new set of tires and you give it some negative camber in the front, you will feel a little counter-steering action in your car. Then it wears down and what you have is a conical pair of tires with the same effect as a 0o camber set-up. I prefer a 0o camber as the tires wear equally and I can use the tires longer by swapping the tires from the rear to front. Plus once you get new sets of tires, it will have the same handling everytime.

Suspension - suspension set-up usually applies when the track is bumpier than the usual. If the track is flat, you can use ball connectors and never have a problem.
For the track we're running on, I prefer the medium (yellow) springs. But this depends on the chassis you're using. For a TB-03D, try red front and yellow rear - the front should always be softer than the rear. Don't forget to adjust your ride height to atleast 5mm - It's easier to drive over the markers very happy

These settings worked very well for my previous chassis. Not in the format you've specified but I think you'll understand.
Try them out and tell us how you find them.

Drift Setup FAQ... Empty
PostSubject: Re: Drift Setup FAQ...   Drift Setup FAQ... EmptyMon Sep 20, 2010 1:52 pm

Yeah i noticed that my tires now are in cone shape, because i use -2 deg camber on front with 4 deg caster.... I'll try the zero setting on front this week and see how it goes....As for the rear i have "all out zero" setting now and the rear gets upset easily by just using the throttle and steering to induce slide on tight corners...

For the suspension i'm using the standard TB-03D Kit Springs and Shock Oil... Silver ones on the front and medium yellow springs which is (included on TRF Dampers) for the rear... I'm also using 3 holes piston on front and rear dampers...for the ride height i use 4mm up to 6mm depending on the surface i drift...

Thanks guys...got to go.. i still have a lot of practice run to do... very happy
