constand velocity drive shaft

I though some of you, like myself, and have interest and appreciation for well engineered things.
It's one of the things I love about RC is the scale engineering that goes into an RC car.

So I've been following this company for a couple of years since I first saw there video, and I thought I would share it since and what they have made is something that really captures my interest and imagination in mechanical things.

It just seems like such a simple problem that has not had any advances in 70+ years

Excuse the amateur nature of the video, it's only a small start-up company and I don't think that marketing is that much of a priority. The product should sell itself.......

My dad showed me this video a fairly long time ago. He loved it.

It's shocking actually, how something like this wasn't made before.

This is exactly what FWD vehicles need, with the older styled coupling, the wear on the drive shafts is shocking, the new Thompson coupling eliminates that disadvantage...

Glad to see that you're interested in mechanical stuff like this too. I'm really interested, my dad's business involves such things, so he keeps me updated aswell

Miniaturization comes with a price.
Till then, we'll have to wait.

Just imagine those small parts on your RC cars!
The less parts and weight, the more efficient and reliable....

great design.. and yes it's really brilliant!

But to make something like that into a 10th scale and to fit to the current front upright design, it has to be made of something really strong as some parts can become "tiny".

Maybe something like titanium, and precision machining would be a real pain..

Just my thoughts..

Yeah you are probably right, it does look a bit complicated for miniaturisation.
Currently it's mostly being taken up by heavy industry and also in some Metro projects.

Generally though, the RC industry is fairly advanced with engineering and materials. LiPo, brushless, carbon fiber and titanium are the norm....... I'd say that a lot of this technology was in RC long before it made it to full scale motoring.....with the exception of F1 maybe.
