| Decided on n off if it was worth the while to revive my approx 10 year old Tamiya FF01. Last nigth i finished building almost 75% of my new TTO1 chassis which i started at midnight. Forgot how much fun the Tamiya cars are to build. Here is a pic of my faithful FF01 almost 10 years ago. I even raced it against nito in a race organised next to Ghurair centre. Was leading but my now extent 7.2 volt 1200mah battery died on me. I think i have all the parts i need as the car sits scattered in 4-5 different zip lock bags in 10 different locations. Hhmmmmmmmmmmm Build pics to be added soon. | |

| FF01's are really cool cars!!
They are contenders when geared correctly and the weight distribution is correct. It is almost the same chassis as the TA03 apart from the rear drivetrain which is removed making it FWD only. The best thing is that they are true to scale in so much as the motor and gearbox is in front of the front axle....in other words, where most cars engines sit. With Lipo you need to add weight to get the best of roadholding and traction. At least you get to add weight where it will make a difference...best to get it over the front axle so that power can put put on the road! Be careful with it though, parts are rare, and quite sought after so also expensive.
I still have an unbuilt FF01 in my cupboard, but it will be going to ebay soon...unless I am tempted to build it....must....resist....urgh..
Looking forward to seeing that on the road. Make sure you get a body kit that is of a model that is true FWD! :-)

| Sam,
Not sure yet, I have had it for about 4 years, and am very tempted to keep it....they go for abour US$ 180-200 NIB, plus shipping...I would probably trade it for a new Tamiya model that is current....TB-03 or TA05.....
The model I have is the Toyota Toms EXIV. An EXCELLLENT body with nightmare decals....well a nightmare if you have to apply them....but quite collectable.

| Damn you......makes me want to build my EXIV....why you going to sell all the parts?? You should keep them for shelf duty, and get some other crappy body to run.....
I suppose that EXIV shell looks a bit worn.....once thos stickers come of...its pretty done...
And to think of all the hard work that went into applying those decals...

| Sam, I bought one on ebay a while back for 30 pounds, just the chassis. It's been used so it will be given track time for sure. I am not sure whether it had a motor or not, I will more than likely shove a sport tuned or my 27T mystery motor in it...and a standard ESC...
With the FWD, it needs to be geared right, it sometimes pays to have a 'torquey' motor and creative gearing, rather than an all out SPEED motor.
Love the idea of the FWD with the motor hanging off the front. Will need to find a body shell for it, and was thinking the GolF Gti Cup one....with LED's and all the trimmings...paint it in a noce road-going, production model...
