Pro RC Lap Records

Hi,

We have a Dub Drift lap record for m-chassis at the Pro-RC Track

I am sure it will be beaten at the first attempt, Andrews mini was clearly faster than mine.

If you want to set the new mini record or set one for touring cars all you need is a shell that has a small clear area in any of the side windows for the transponder.

I will bring the lap timer whenever I am at pro rc, if you want to time some laps, just ask

Hi,
I looked at the transponders, it looks like they negotiate a signal with the other lap timing system, if I remember right we used to have to register them at the start of a race.

Unfortunately without knowing the protocol they use to agree a stable signal I cannot build a reliable way to read them so we are stuck with my chunky transponder - its still a lot more fun having a hot lap to try and beat. All you have to do is tape my transponder to your body shell and you are good to go.

I will be there on saturday, I might even build a second timing system tuned to a different frequency.

For anyone else thats looking in 'Im going to cut out the window' sounds a bit drastic.

What Andrew means is that his car has dark window decals, and the IR based system cannot transmit through the stickers, so in order to run the system in a car you need a small clear patch in one of your side windows. Its a lot like the system we used to use at Area two, some of you may remember having to remove or cut your window decals.

If your windows are just painted with Tamiya smoke paint, the transmitter is probably powerful enough to pass through this, I will check one of my cars this evening.

Hi,

Lance laid down the law early on at the first Dub Drift M-Chassis hot lap contest with a time of 18.06. After a visit to the pits he was able to beat his own mark with an even more impressive time of 17.91.

Lance was followed by Andrew then me, with times of 19.54 and 18.94.

Next to have a go was Ian who came within 4 hundredths of a second of Lances time, had the wind blown he would have beaten it.

Despite my best efforts later in the day I was only able to better my 18.94 with a final lap of 18.54.

The current standings -



1) 17.91 Lance
2) 17.95 Ian
3) 18.54 Duane
4) 19.54 Andrew

Its safe to say Greg would have been competitive but there was a problem with his car which we only discovered after he left.

Greg, you car is too short.

We had the same problem with Ians low slung coupe until I noticed that the track barrier is angled up so that the detector was pointing over the tops of the lower cars. We fixed the angle with a nail after which the system was flawless.

But seriously, the system worked great! Being able to tell the difference of hundredths of a second is very important especially during qualifying runs.

I too were having problems during my third go at it. There were some laps that I really thought the car was faster than 17.91, but were not read. Then, we had it fixed during Ian's turn.

I really like the idea of having your own timing system and being able to read it there and then without having the need for a computer/laptop.

So Duane, how much will it actually cost for a transceiver and transponder?

Pressure mode basically starts a count down three seconds before the current best lap time, to put it another way if you want to beat the current time, you need to beat the third beep.

Why not change the RCA to a 3.5mm instead?

I've got an x-mini that we can use if it would make the sound better.


Btw, that "New best lap" tune is not too inspiring..

I know, its horrible, I have changed it to a bleepy arppegio instead.

The tune was used in 1970's and 80's for British television coverage of Formula 1, it sounded better in the 1970's

Lance and I managed a trip to the track this evening. No change in the order of the lap time standings but Lance managed to get a few tenths off his time and I am now only one hundredth of a second off Ian's time -

1) 17.64 Lance (New Time)
2) 17.95 Ian
3) 17.96 Duane (New Time)
4) 19.54 Andrew

The system says we have recorded 231 Laps ! some of them would be me testing in the house, but I am sure we have put more than 100 through it now.

Tried other tire combos earlier but they did not give me better runs.
The same tires I used last Saturday worked best for me and a newly charged li-po as well.

Tried hugging the white lines, although tumbled in some laps, it was with a really clean lap that I was faster than than my previous best.

I know it can be topped off easily with the other guys who are not yet on the list.

Short term goal right now is to break that 16.++s mark.

what?!? i really need to fine tune my mini then! hehehehe!

sorry i was not able to come earlier, i sleep at noon and woke up at 9pm.

The new sound effects are a huge improvement.

The pressure mode doesn't really add any pressure but I like that if your on a fast lap it counts you down the last part of you lap, helps you focus a bit if anything.
