F1 Class Advice Empty
PostSubject: F1 Class Advice   F1 Class Advice EmptyTue Oct 04, 2011 12:13 am

Hi Guys,

Long time... no see...
We're planning to start F1 Class here in Riyadh.
What kit would you recommend for us to use? (3R, Tamiya, HPI)
Their pros n cons
I know you've been racing F1's already over there.
And we would like to use rubber tires instead of foams on asphalt.

Thanks,

Bryan

I have 3racing f109 running foam on asphalt.

F1 are difficult to drive... sad

Hi Bryan ..... its been a long time since we last saw you in autodomex .... we all hope everything is doing well with you RC fanatics in Riyadh

I havent tried any other F1 chassis except for the 3racing F-109

It handled really well .... you just need to have a throtle exponent setting in your radio so you can smoothly trigger in and trigger out the throttle ..... I ran it on the stock foams on asphalt ..... it runs good but when the dust sets in ... it does get a little slippery

over-all ..... i was happy with the F-109 and did not opt to get the much more expensive tamiya ..... it is very much worth the money spent

I bought some rubber for my F109. I think they were the ride tires, but I found the foam were better.

Generally, I think you need a medium to high grip track to enjoy the F1 cars. I did like driving it, but on low grip track it is really hard and in the end I gave up. Nad Al Sheeba is a bit inconsistent and some weeks it was good, but usually not.

I'd recommend someone get a car and try out tires first before you decide on a class. Where we were driving I don't think the rubber worked, at least not the ride rubber.

I also bought the 3racing diff. It was not very good, and I have trouble getting it tight enough. Also it can be hard to get the pinion to mesh unless the motor has a long rotor.

Good luck.

thanks for the info gerg smile

we'll do that...right now we're running slick tires (sweep, sorex, solaris) in our home track so the first car (F1)which will arrive we'll test. i heard shimizu tires work good on asphalt.

one thing more gerg...what tire type did you use for your f109. i read in the forums that tamiya f103 rims and tires will fit the F109.
