Gents, my remark on the bodyshell type:

There should be a restriction in bodyshell type.

A Lola type body shell has a much better downforce comparing with a touring car body.
E.g. a touring car body has 4 doors. In GT, 2 doors shells are allowed.

At higher speed, this makes a lot of difference (e.g. nitro, EP modified).

Automodex rules
Post Tue Mar 02, 2010 4:18 pm by gerg
With up coming Automodex event, I realise Iam going to be underweight for both my classes accoridng to the rules.
I don't have any scales at home, but will have to make some adjustment on the day I think.
Where can I get some lead weight from.
I'd suggest we get some spare as well, I'm sure I won't be the only one who is underweight on the day!

greg,

best bet is to go passed a wheel and tyre shop where they do wheel balancing, you can get wheel balance lead weights from the them, they usually come in strips and have adhesive backing tape on one side to keep them in place.

are we gonna go thru weighting kits at the automodex?
im guessing as long as you didnt do any cut modifications on your chassis that will do.

my NICD batteries acts as weights already lol

Don't know....are we.
If not I won't bother. I don't think it gunna make much difference. I'm running lipo so probably a bit under but I don't know if it helps or not. Less grip and unbalance car vs better acceleration and cornering (if it grips).

i reckon we should leave it for this race, we can get more strict after we see how the first event goes

maybe just a quick visual inpection to check cars are within the rules for the relevant classes.... check motor & chassis

There are a few things we SHOULD check, but I am becoming increasingly 'blase' about this event. I would like for it to be a success, and be a great proving ground for events in the future...

There WILL be an inspection and the immediate cue will be the motors....anything that is not clearly marked with turns/kv, will be put into the MODIFIED class.

The inspections will be held AFTER the races on the day, any infringement means disqualification. There will be no checking beforehand, and no warnings to change things so that you can compete....after the race means that any transgression will result in the offender wasting their time that day....and no points.

Only Mini-Stock and GT Stock will be checked. The Nitro guys have informed me that efforts to cheat with engine capacity will result in them failing to complete the laps. The only place that they will be checked is fuel tank, and I need some advice on that.
GT Oultaw.....do whatever you want to WIN. you can even use a car battery as a power source for all I care...

LOL.....I as soo off topic there...

Greg....I find that adding weight helps cars with Lipo's, the advantage being that you can balance the car better than just having to relocate batteries...

My suggestions for best performance are:

Mini - 1350g minimum. Most comp's have a minimum limit of 1250-1300g
GT - 1550g minimum. Most classes are between 1450-1550g as a minimum

I am so out of the GT stock class if we implify this.. Im running a very old motor of mine which just returned from the grave with a new brush. no visible marks unless you open it up and check.

23T Tamiya Super Stock Motor Type-R
bye bye lol

I thought there was a motor limmit to the GT Outlaw class, says so on the website:

GT-Outlaw

Any 4WD tub chassis kits and Carbon plate double deck cars are permitted in this class.
Chassis must be built as per instruction manual, RTR cars are allowed.
Any manufacturer’s Chassis hop-ups allowed.
Any 190mm body shell allowed.
Any manufacturer’s 24mm tires and wheels allowed.
Tire inserts allowed.
Ball bearings allowed.
19 Turn Brushed or 10.5 Brushless motor allowed with 6 cell or 7.4 volt Lipo.
The use of maximum pinion gear size is allowed.
Any plastic or aluminium hop-up damper may be used.
Any short or regular size hop-up spring may be used.
7.4 volt Lipo cells may be used. All Lipo cells must be in a hard case.
Drilling extra vent holes to the wheels is not allowed.
All GT cars must meet a minimum weight of 1400 grams.
Changing the camber-link positions on the car other than the way it was intended is not allowed.

or are these old rules?

Dan, you can put a 5T in it.....good luck on the corners.....joking...those rules apply, but given the setup, anyone putting more power in than that is being silly...

Jay.....might be that you are too good for that class anyway wink

Depending on the program of events, there are some of us who will not be racing anyway....because we are too good! LOL

I think a lot of us received an email with new classes and rules, but the website not updated. As per the original rules, I could not enter the stock cos I got CF chassis, but could not enter modified since I only have hotter mod motor than the rules allow.
As it is now, I could enter either since the stock no longer has chassis restriction, and no motor limit for mod......... I stayed in mod anyway since less people signed up and it sounds like fun. Hope I don't break my new kit, will be almost first outing since I have not run it yet.
