| Has any driven both........? Love the FF01 but parts are expensive as its officially vintage now. Have a full running condition chassis but scared to break parts.
Not a big Mini fan. So trying to persue the FF01 or 02 route instead. Noticed the FF02 shares the same chassis as the Mini.
So parts should not fall under the 'vintage' catagory.
Anyone one who has a lead to a NIB or reasonable condition chassis FF02 kit. Give me a shout.

| Andy has one. But guess he wants to use it for an Ebay trade or something. Plus dont want to pay 180-200 $ for a weekly running chassis. Hence looking at FF02 which is not a vintage. (Atleast at the moment) | |

| FF02 is not really vintage, although because it was last seen by Tamiya once the 4WD touring class took over, they are still quite sought after, I sold an Alfa 156 NIB at the end of last year for US$150. It shares parts with the Mini (chassis) and I believe a few parts from the TL-01 such as dogbones and suspension arms which give it a wider track than the mini's. I dont have any experience driving either, but based on very reliable sources, the FF01 was a MUCH better driver than the 02, and the reckoning was based on the fact that the weight of the motor was i front of the front axle, giving it much better traction capabilities. The reason I have held on to the FF01 is because I am VERY tempted to try it out,...but then, it is a great trade-bait. FF02's can be found for US$120 NIB, but they dont come up that regularly. For some reason, the ones that do are the 'new beetle' version of the FF02, and that shell is simply horrendous... In the FF01 class, I think it is the Golf VR5/VR6 that fetches the big money, I have seen those gor US$250-280 before...there was a VR5 in T&U a few years ago that was offered to me for AED220, which I foolishly ignored.....damnit! | |

| What the hell ................lets get the FF01 back. Last i recall driving it 10 plus years ago. Will just make a huge foam bumper to soften the impact with non-movable objects.
Long live my FF01. Pics of the assembly to follow.

| NIB = New In Box....in other words...unbuilt.
LOL, I never got that JACCS, but I had the following, all of which I flogged on eBay Blackfoot trucks (think I had 2 or 3) Taisan Starcard Porsche GT2 - TA02 Kure Nismo Skyline - TA03 I think Mazda MX 5 M-01 (Still have one in its box) Alfa 156 Toyota EXIV Audi A4 - TA04 PIAA Porsche GT2 - TA02
There were a couple of others that I went through, cannot remember off-hand...but they paid for my hobby head-rushes....
And from Hobby Center I had a Landmax 2 Subaru that got me good money, as well as 3 of the F201 chassis Tamiya F1 cars, one I built and the rest I shipped out....suckahs!
I would LOVE to see some more FWD cars from tamiya, but dont hold your breath, there is no demand for that class...it's all 4WD now and of course the RWD F1's will make a comeback with the F104.
Incidentally, the was a Yokomo FWD, I think they called it the YR2 or something like that, it was BANNED from all the FWD classes because it was so awesomely fast! In fact, it will compete favourably with today's touring cars....see if you can find one on Ebay, and whenyou do, have your credit card and your chequebook handy...

| It interesting you say there is not much demand for FWD, HPI has just launched there Switch which is FWD to compete against the M-chassis. This product gives them a cheap entry level product to keep sales up when the economy is down....and it becomes increaingly more difficault for newbie to enter the hobby.... I think min is here for a while albiet its not coming from tamiya.....check out the Switch HERE | |

| Mini-classes are different, they are quite unlike a full size tourer....
I always thought that anyone slandering the Tamiya Mini's was just closed minded, but then I read the artcle on rc-mini and they confirmed that it stinks...LOL
The XEVO would be a much better drive....but as you say, not economically viable for an entry level car...

| Sam,
Definately! As long as it is FWD, not really concerned what it is....provided it has a silver can or RS540 motor.....bring it and wring it!

not sure how they would compare permance wise? but personally i would be keen to try one if i ever break my m-05 beyond repair...i really like the simplicity of this kit and it looks like it has a really low CG... Andy what do you say?

| Just looked up at RCmart. The kit costs $105. Same as the mini. Plus it comes with ball bearings. No electronics though. | |
