| Hi guys,
Im jet and an RC newbie. I would like to try rc drifting since I've been riding superbikes as a hobby half my life i think RCing is alot safer than leaning in corners at 200kph. I need two things.. 1. Where can i get a goot kit? 2. SHould I go electric or Nitro??
I hope i can join you guys every friday.. but definitely I'll visit you this friday to check the sport out..
Thanks in advance!

| Welcome to the forum! Superbikes eh? COOL. Answer to question one.. There are a few hobby shops here. Toys and Us, Hobby Center, Speed Hobbies, etc. Answer to question two.. Electric all the way! Nitro is only good for bashing and offroading, and for expensive, messy and adrenaline purposes...Nitro drifting..Is just too fast, you can't really enjoy it and you need a toolbox full of spares. Drifting takes a toll on engines. Forget nitro, we don't allow it at our meets anyway. And you might not want to come on Friday...We neet on Saturdays Now do a bit of chassis research. What you want to look for first, are two things...First, availability of spares, second, availability of upgrades. You might find this helpful... http://www.dubdrift.com/technical-discussion-f5/all-you-need-to-know-to-start-rc-drifting-in-dubai-t619.htmAdBull. | |

| hi biker_jet, welcome to the forum i can give you a tip its better to get a electric kit because first of all it makes a lot of noise and the owners of the car park might not allow that and everyone of us is using an electric kit at the place. | |

| hey there jet!
welcome to the forums..
as the first two have mentioned, we do not encourage bringing nitro kits in the meet place as it is a residential area and may face problems.
we have a market place where you can find used and brand new items which are for sale.. there are lots of potentials there.. and there are hobby shops like what abdul has mentioned..
feel free to drop by this saturday and for sure you'll be rushing to get your own drift car..
enjoy man! | |

| welcome jet!
feel free to send us any questions you may have! hopefully we'll see you at one of the sessions soon.
this friday we're doin a trip to the race track out in al ain if you are keen to join us, otherwise we have the usual session every saturday afternoon from 4pm
electric is great! simple quiet and clean! and what you need if you need if you want to join the sessions.......but there are also some nitro offroad fans here too, who love the smell of nitro and gas with clouds of dust billowing past...
enjoy | |

| welcome biker_jet ..... you ride bikes too huh? i used to race professionally back in 2002-2003 in the Phils .... complete with all the NAMSA accredited race license and all that .... but fate has brought me here to UAE .....
i would say RCing has the same effect of releasing stress and tension as riding a bike .....
i have both nitro and electric ......and its the same as bikes ..... you cant just have one .....

| Thanks for the warm welcome guys.. Saturday huh.. actually its perfect! so i'll ride this friday with my bike mates and I'll join you guys on saturday afternoon.. even the place is perfect since it's near my office.. I passed by one of the hobby shops in diera i think that's the one near ponderosa and the guy was very helpful and shown me a drift car kit.. I think it will cost 1450 all in. Not pretty sure about the shell though it looks like a lumina SS.. Strawb: I am from the PH too but I raced from 96 to early 2000 from 250's to 600's but I shifted to cars during the 2000's. Though i wont say what kind of racing we do on cars since I STRONGLY discourage doing such a thing now a days | |

| is that a shop your talking about is inside the gas station?
if thats the shop hes offering you a hong nor brand it is quite good kit but the only problem for now is hopups parts.
better go with speedyadik just add some cash to reach 2K & the kit is fully uprgade to drift spec & a 2.4ghz radio system + Brushless motor

| its a realy good deal, plus its pretty much all youll ever need to spend on a kit, you dont have to buy anymore hop-ups or modifications, its just bout at its limit, so what a bargain indeed | |

| so its your kit.. I checked the ad and i think its too technical for me.. I may get a "not to moded" second hand kit if theres anything for sale because Chances are I will trash it since I am new to RCing. Also, I want to learn modding the car as I did with my bikes. I cant start from ground up since time is a major issue but definitely I would love something i can sink my teeth into. Anyone who can point me to the right direction? Checking the classifieds would be redundunt to me since i dont know the RC slang yet. thnks guys! | |

Miguel Bichara? ..... I was president of FORCE-A MC (Makati) from 2006-2008 ..... i had a couple of members who raced your season .... Maweng Sevilla? Caret Mapa? ..... anyways it would be nice to meet up with you to talk bikes .... I met a couple of guys from Filipino Dubai Riders in the Dubai Autodrome last year .... anyways .... goodluck with your KIT hunting ..... the TB-03D for sale here is in my personal opinion very much well worth of how much the seller is asking for .....

| Hi Strawb,
Yes I do know Migs Bichara, during that time it was an open class when JD andrews is still using his old 750. I was racing 250's during that time, bike racing was not well supported back then, sponsors are very hard to find because they are more likely to sponsor an actor driving a toyota instead of a racer like us. So I became a privateer and expenses are roof high since I am racing a 2 stroke machine, I didn't finish the season, that's why some of the racers turn to drag racing including myself and didn't bother to come back to the track. I used to ride with my hometown boys but not an actual club but we do hit the mountain twisties of Rizal when it used to be just a 1 1/2 lane road.
Back to topic.. I think the kit is perfect but I think its not for me.. It's like letting a scooter rider ride a 1000c.c. machine..

I sent you PM | |

| Hi Guys,
Strawb and speedadik thank you for the PM but I got an HSP Drift ready kit from a shop near lamcy plaza. THe owner was pretty nice and gave me the piece for AED700 with a free 4500 battery. They also have a broad collection of shells and I will get an 85 corolla next week. He even replaced the OEM clips with alloy clips. The chassis is very different from the one i saw last night since the chassis i saw last night was carbon compsoite. The one i have is plastic with alloy reinforcement.
I'll join you guys this saturday, please be gentle because I can drift a real car or even a bike but im not sure if I can do it on an rc.. Looking forward to meet you all and please give me all the advice you can give..
