| Hi All, I will be moving with my family from the UK to Muscat, Oman before the end of 2010 with work and want to bring my R/C cars with me.....R/C is a huge part of my life here and I can't let it go! I'm currently part of the Muchmore Racing company over here in the UK (as a hobby not as an employee) and organise international events which have attracted some big names in the hobby. I currently only race 1/10th electric touring cars and 1/10th electric off road buggy's (both 2wd and 4wd). My cars are: T.O.P Photon Kyosho Lazer ZX5FS Team Associated B4 Schumacher Cougar SV Pro CF I can't find any tracks which currently exist in Muscat although I have emailed a hobby shop owner there about the possibility of building one. I'd also like to take my RC shopping mall events to Dubai and hold one there.....but I guess I actually need to slow down and wait until we arrive first! Anyway, what tracks are there around the area? I understand there's an off road 1/8th scale track outside of Dubai which is around a 5 hour drive North of Muscat? Are there any on or off road tracks closer to Muscat? All advice is welcome and I look forward to meeting some of you. My email address is below please feel free to contact me. Thanks, Dan Dan Rowlands Much-More UK dan@muchmoreracing.com www.muchmoreracing.com | |

| Hi, Not sure about Muscat tracks, but if theres one thing that always stikes me about Muscat and Oman in general, its football. Muscat is the football capital of Asia. Last time I drove back to Dubai there was a football pitch every 500 meters and a stream of cars with players pulling up at each of them.
Anyway enjoy oman and let us know when you are in Dubai Duane.

| hi dan! Welcome to dubdrift! Tell your folks to move here in Dubai instead. Hahaha
regarding race track, we dont have a racing track. We're just using a vacant parking space for our weekly mini race and drift. But there is a race track up in al ain about 1 1/2 hours drive from Dubai.

| Hi Dan, Congratulation on your move to Oman, it's a nice country and I think you will find Muscat a really nice place to live and Omani's very friendly. I'm not sure if there is any track in Muscat, but if you find one then let us know. In UAE we have off road tracks in Abu Dhabi and Lisayli, and in Al Ain (about 1.5 hr closer to muscat from Dubai) there is on-road track which is quite decent. The only time I visited, there were some guys from Muscat who had come down for a visit. There are some pics here al ain thread. The offroad tracks tend to be aimed at 1/8 scale nitro, but the electric cars are starting to gain some popularity I think. Also in Dubai we meet every week for mini racing and drift, and when it cools down again we also will run touring class. In dubai we don't have a proper track so car park and plates but it is still a lot of fun...... We are probably the most regular and organised group racing, but so far no where to call home, but we are trying to get the numbers up, form some formal club and work toward building a permanent track...... Hope to see you down for a visit some time...... | |
